Rat Scales Skyscraper
Made in 4 days for the gmtk game jam 2024! :>
================================================================
PLEASE READ: I see a lot of people not understanding something which I could have better explained, you do not have to be 100% size at all times you can keep briefly walking off the building with WASD to unlatch and shrink your size then quickly latching back on so you don't lose too much distance! The game punishes being at full size, try to stay small and also have fun :)
GIF to help explain:
================================================================
You climb a building, make sure to avoid oncoming obstacles falling from above,
HOWEVER you will grow as you climb making it harder to dodge stuff flying your way,
running off the building will shrink you, so make sure to duck and weave your way up the skyscraper! A good tip is to run off the edges of the building or walk back with the 'S' key off to lower your size mid-air and therefore speed up as well as being a smaller target!
Have fun!! Squeak squeak
Also there is a download for the windows version which is more stable, but a browser option is still here if you are worried! :)

Very fun game. Got to the cheese yippie!!!
Ty !!!!!!!!!
I'm absurdly enormous rodent, yet I do not have sufficient knowledge in geopolitical nuance to draft any legislation. Also I am currently climbing your building.
r at
I've always wondered what it would be like to be a mouse guy that climbs tall buildings. I got frustrated at 200m and gave up. 10/10
thanksm tyou
rats, we're rats, we're the rats
We prey at night, we stalk at night
This is a simple, but charming game.
Creativity:
If i had a nickel for each sub i played with a growing rat i would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice; nonetheless i still think it's a funny and charming concept. Why are there giant meatballs falling from skyscrapers though?
Wish the game had more to offer with a goal maybe?
Art:
Simple low poly graphics which were lifted a bit by the vcr effect that gives it an old PS game vibe. The main menu UI is simple but usable. The obstacles could use a change anyway though.
Sound effects:
No music which is a shame, it's really important with simple gameplay loops like this.
Sound effects were there, they were fitting and worked.
----------------------------------
Overall a cool stylized entry, but is a bit lacking in gamplay and could use more interesting visual effects.
Wow thank you this is a great review! Im glad you liked the style of the game, music could be a good idea, I wanted to keep it oddly eery so maybe some more subtle music could be good, I do agree that the gameplay can be improved a lot, thank you for playing it!! :)
cool style but gameplay was pretty boring
Thank you for the feedback! After the jam ends I will think up some ideas to make it more fun! :))
fun little rat game, love the low poly graphics

PR: 1:42
nice record!! Thank you for playing! :))
Overall great game ! Loved the visuals, the only problem is that it gets too repetitive and to fix that you could've for example not add a size limit so you always have to jump off for a couple meters.
Thanks for the feedback!! I'm glad u had fun, yeah that could be a good idea or maybe have a separate mode for unlimited scaling :)
yea ! A separate mode is a great idea!
I might still add this idea in the future but for now it was very buggy so I instead implemented a hard mode with double the size limit, faster obstacles, and faster grow speed!
love the vertex snapping!
yippee!
yippee!
Time for another birthday bash!
Yippee!! :>
RATS.. WE'RE RATS.. WE'RE THE RATS
WE PREY AT NIGHT WE STALK AT NIGHT, WE'RE THE RATS
Really fun! only made it to 220 M before the onslaught of rocks made me drop hard lol. I think the low poly aesthetic is pretty nice!
Thank you for playing I'm glad you had fun!! :))
I adore the graphics! I found that you reach your maximum size pretty quick and it makes it difficult to see the rocks before they come. A different angle and a slower ramp up size would help this a lot. Good job!
Thank you for the feedback, I'll go ahead and makes some changes! Hope you enjoyed! :) edit: I've updated the game to have those things mentioned, thank you for the feedback again!!!
